Looking After Your Bed
A high-quality bed is an investment in your wellbeing. To ensure years of restful sleep and structural stability, we have gathered essential maintenance tips for your bed frame and headboard.
The Foundation of Sleep
Our beds are designed to provide a lifetime of support. Whether yours features a solid timber frame or a hand-upholstered headboard, regular care is the key to maintaining both its aesthetic appeal and its structural integrity.
Sustainable Craftsmanship
At The Crafted Home, we believe in furniture that lasts. By following our care guidelines, you preserve the natural materials and artisan joinery of your bed, ensuring it remains a sustainable choice for your home for decades to come.
During the first few weeks of use, your bed frame may settle. We recommend checking and tightening all bolts and fixings shortly after assembly, and then again every six months to ensure the frame remains silent and stable.
Avoid jumping on the bed or sitting on the very edge of the frame, as this can place uneven stress on the slats and side rails, potentially causing warping or breakage over time.
To ensure your mattress is correctly supported, periodically inspect the slats to ensure they are properly positioned and haven't shifted. Dust the slats with a dry cloth to prevent any moisture buildup between the wood and the mattress.
If your bed features a center support leg, ensure it is adjusted to touch the floor firmly. This is vital for preventing the mattress from sagging and protecting the frame's integrity.
For upholstered headboards, vacuum regularly using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and allergens. If the headboard is fabric, blot any stains immediately with a clean, dry cloth.
For velvet headboards, use a soft clothes brush to maintain the pile's direction and lustre. If your headboard is timber, dust with a lint-free cloth and keep it away from direct sunlight to prevent the finish from mellowing unevenly.
If you need to reposition the bed, always lift the frame rather than dragging it across the floor. Dragging can put excessive lateral pressure on the legs and joints, leading to instability or floor damage.
We recommend using high-quality felt floor protectors on the feet to prevent scratching on hard floors and to reduce vibration.
Every bed at The Crafted Home is built to provide a restful sanctuary. Our designs combine aesthetic beauty with the strength required for daily use.
